Day 27: Jekyll and Hyde

Day 27:
This project was supposed to be a sort of transexual take on the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Ugh, the more I look at this project the more disappointed in it I am. I really had to rush through the process of this project. So, instead of having time to do proper revisions on the final drawing I just cleaned up a thumbnail and took it to finish over the course of two days. I really REALLY need to stop doing that. I also really need to sleep…. And to stop being a bad artist…

Day 26: Sketches

Day 26:

Have I ever told you guys I love drawing? Because I really, really do.
Anyways, here’s some more sketchbook shenanigans.

Day 25: Sketch Dump

Day 25:
I've been super busy.
For a class we were challenged to use a material we'd never used before to portray a famous New Yorker.  I chose fabric and Theodore Roosevelt, and I tried my best to make a Teddy Bear that looked like him!  He's huge and he's made out of german mohair, stuffed with excelsior, his hair and mustache are real fur and his paw pads are swede leather. Also, his vest is lined with silk!  This is as far as I got before it was due.
I plan on making him a suit jacket during winter break when I have more time. I'll put up a better picture of him once he's got that on.  Right now I'm trying to make as much work as possible so that I can get critiqued at CTN. I really, REALLY want to get into the Walt Disney Animation Studios summer internship for Visual development and I'd like to have some work that I can get suggestions on by the time the convention comes around.
Also, here are some quick sketches from the Zoos and subways!

Day 24: Swimmin' Bill

Day 24:
This is from the second project I’m working on in quest for portfolio development: The Lone Shark.
It’s a story about a Great White Shark trying to bring law and order to a town of criminal fish. This is said shark! Quick-toothed Bill!

Day 23: Bear Detective Profile

Day 23:
Some more Bear and Rat: Detectives work. This particular project was also a great excuse to finally use pastels again, after not using them for years and never having used them properly.

I discovered that pastels make my clothing very sad.

Day 22: Temporal Kitty Scratching

Day 22:

I’ve got an idea for a series that follows along this style. I’ll probably re-do this one though, since I think it looks really sloppy, but hey.

Day 21: In Memoriam

Day 21:
I worked hard on this one. It was made for a project to commemorate the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire.
My only REAL regret with this is that this piece reproduces so poorly… But hey, lesson learned…

Day 20: Completely Accurate Self-Portrait

Day 20:
Fun fact: This is another self-portrait.
Another fact that's even more fun: It's once again a completely accurate representation of reality. Exposed muscles and all.
Isn’t the world a funny place sometimes?
Also, Harry Partridge is hilarious and no one will ever convince me otherwise.

Day 19: The Few, The Proud

Day 19:
Had a lot of fun doing this one two semesters ago. I remember when I first made this all those moons ago. I was so proud of the way it turned out back then….
BACK THEN.

Day 18: Robolisk

Day 18:
In case anyone is wondering, yes, this is indeed about a mechanized Hydralisk and no, I don’t like the way it came out much either.
But it’s just one of those projects that makes me happy whenever I see it… I’ll probably regret putting it up here later at some point…

Day 17: The Socialites

Day 17:
Having some fun with a croquil pen. I’ll probably do a lot more of these in the future since I love it so much.
Here’s a fun little game for you all: Guess which I drew first.

Day 16: Corporate Rhino

Day 16:

I’m still working on that last thing I posted, but today I got stranded out in the middle of nowhere and ended up drawing this and had to play with it a bit when I finally got home.
It’s a quick digital paint job, but I sort of like it… Kind of… Not really…
I need more practice.

Day 15: Value Study

Day 15:
I’ve been growing increasingly displeased with my digital painting skills as of late. So I decided to do a small digital painting study.
I’m just blocking in the shades right now, I’m not completely sure what I’m doing at the moment, but hopefully I’ll come out a better painter because of this…

Day 14: Ghost Heffalump

Day 14:

This particular drawing has been sitting on my desk for like two weeks. I don’t even know why it took me this long to just ink and color the damn thing.
Also, if anyone’s wondering: Yes. Orange IS my favorite color.

Day 13: Oh 3DS, You So Crazy

Day 13:

This drawing is based off of 100% purely true events.
Aren't self-portraits wonderful?

Day 12: Economics' Deathly Rider

Day 12:

For your viewing pleasure I present to you what happens when I don't play attention to Macro-Economics class!

Day 11: Birds!

Day 11:
I found this in my closet the other day and I realized that I’d never digitalized it. In fact, I totally forgot that I made this.
Which is weird since I didn’t finish it too long ago. Oh well, I thought I’d post it anyways since I had tons of fun making it.

Day 10: Persona 3 Saddens Me

Day 10:
By now you've all probably realized that this blogspot is leading up to being exactly like my tumblr.
That said, this image still brings back painful memories.

Seriously... 48 hours of gameplay. GONE.

Day 9: Casuals...

Day 9:

Sorry I didn't put up anything better yesterday. To make up for it, here’s some Rhinos!
I’ll give a penny to anyone who can guess what this thing is about. (Hint: It’s about VIDEO GAMES.)

Day 8: SNAKE

Day 8:
I wish I had something better to show today. BUT I DON’T.
So here, have this sleep deprived sketch!
I must say though, my biggest regret is that I didn’t draw the tortoise smaller so I could fit some of his shell body as well. As it stands he just looks like some sort of retarded worm… Or a very, very old snake. Possibly with bladder problems.

Day 7: Aren't Old Things Wonderful?

Day 7:
Just quick drawings of a Colt Revolver and some old British guy from the MET.
And by quick I mean of course like an hour each.

Day 5: Bear Detective

Day 5:

Initial character designs for my Bear detective.
Still haven’t decided if I’ll just leave his name as Bear. If I did that then I’d have to leave the rat’s name as Rat… I mean, I have no problem with it but it just makes me look terribly uncreative.
Anyways, I'm digging the one to the left. But I need to explore this a bit more.
